Exactly what is Osteopathy?

osteopathyOsteopathy – An integrated hands on approach for the treatment of Neurological and musculo-skeletal conditions for all ages. Offering effective pain relief and freedom of movement for all parts of the body. With combined experience, knowledge and compassion, offering the right treatment and advice all manner of acute or chronic conditions such as: ankle sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back discogenic pain, wry neck, headaches and migraines. Also offering support for organ related and systemic conditions such as asthma, gastro-intestinal issues, arthritis for example.

We aim to address the underlying cause, not just the symptoms through a comprehensive case history and experienced hands on assessment, looking at more than just muscles and joints. Treatments are tailored to the individual’s needs.

We adopt a wide range of techniques from more gentle unwinding soft tissue release, to more direct acting joint mobility, to help all parts and layers of the body express optimal health. (Working with the living forces within the body to bring about ease of function and optimal health in all parts).

Holistic and comprehensive – offering longer appointment times of up to 1 hour.

Finding the cause – using our hands to understand and work through strain patterns found within the body and externally throughout the musculoskeletal system. Recognising the role of the autonomic nervous system (of which the flight, fright, fight response is a part of) in health.

Hands on healthcare that looks at the why, not just the what. We recognise that we are not a sum of parts but a whole – where the ankle joint is considered in a treatment to assist with movement of the hip and back for example
