Private Health Insurance

No referral is required for chiropractic care under most circumstances and is covered by all of the private health insurers(HBF, MBF, Medibank etc).

Medicare

You can get up to 5 visits paid for by Medicare for chronic and complex health conditions. This is known as Enhanced Primary Care. Discuss this with your G.P as he/she will need to organise a referral and care plan.

Worker’s Compensation & Motor Vehicle Accident

Chiropractors regularly see clients with work related injuries and motor vehicle accident related injuries. To access chiropractic care you do NOT need a specific referral. You will, however, need to see a G.P for a First Medical Certificate for the claim to be initiated. You can attend for chiropractic care even if the G.P. has not indicated on the First Medical Certificate. You have the right to choose the type of treatment and practitioner you prefer. The General Practitioner can NOT make you attend treatment that you do not agree with. It is also important to understand that you have the right to see your usual doctor to manage your case but are required to attend your employer’s doctor if asked to. It is worthwhile visiting the Workcover WA website, at www.workcover.gov.au.

Department Of Veteran Affairs Patients

If you are attending the clinic as a Department of Veterans Affairs patient you will need to go to your G.P before your visit for a written referral.
